Twilight Twelve Highlights (2026) |

Winter burglary is down on Eastbrook and Rush Green.
Back in November, the team began its 12th campaign aimed at reminding residents to keep their homes lit from the late afternoon to deter opportunist burglars.
Including the 27 visits conducted this time around, 414 homes in darkness have been knocked at since the inaugural 2012/13 drive, with a handout posted to returning residents reminding them that a home without lights is a potential target.
Despite this past November-February period recording 14 break-ins (including attempts), up on 2024/25's 8, the general trend shows reports falling.
Between 2012/13-2015/16, the winter period saw 99 homes affected by burglary (a 24.75 average over 4 years), with this number falling to 69 in the 4 years that followed, a drop of 30%.
While the reduction in burglary is, in part, down to the change in ward boundaries that took place in May 2022, incidents in Rush Green, which typically saw the most activity due to its size, have improved too.
"There's some positivity to be had with these figures. There's no point in churning out the same tired schemes every so often if we aren't actually looking to see whether they're actually effective, so I'm pleased things are looking better than a decade ago. With our exclusive Lights/Twilights campaign, we're also out on the streets during the times burglary is most likely to occur. This alone will have hopefully put off a few would-be break-ins over the years." -Rick
